Prior to moving to Mystic Connecticut, Doug Aaberg had studied under an array of well recognized and accomplished artists affiliated with the North River Arts in Marshfield Hills MA, including Sue Charles, Diane Scott, John Kilroy, Sergio Roffo, Liz Haywood-Sullivan, and David Brega.  His work has been accepted into a number of local juried shows including:

  • North River Arts Society Festival of the Arts - 2006, 2007, 2008
  • Duxbury Art Association Winter Art Show -2007 - 2nd Place Oils & Acrylics
  • Duxbury Art Association Members Show - 2007 - Honorable Mention

In addition, for two years running, his work was selected for exhibition in a special collaboration between the North River Arts Society and the Hingham Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Aaberg won national recognition in 2008 with his painting Take Me Out being selected from over 1,000 entries by AARP for its 2009 calendar.  The painting was on exhibit in Washington, DC in September, 2008, for the AARP 50th Anniversary and Annual Expo.

In the fall of 2008, Doug and his wife Ann moved to Mystic where the new scenery has developed a new found love for painting sail boats along the Mystic River, marsh land wildlife, seascapes and vibrant sunsets.

Mr. Aaberg continues to develop his artistic talent through the exploration of a variety of styles, ranging from trompe l'oeil to contemporary realism.
